The development of primary prevention initiatives designed specifically for CALD communities is still in its infancy. If CALD communities are to fully benefit from
prevention initiatives, then steps should be taken to ensure that they are accessible and culturally appropriate. This final report summarises learnings from the ‘CALD Communities Leading the Way to Respectful Relationships’ project, which aimed to specifically address the needs of the CALD population, and particularly in regards to language barriers and differing cultural practice. The project worked with culturally-specific groups across four ethnic communities (Croatian, Indian, Sudanese and Vietnamese) to create awareness on gender equality and respectful relationships.
